How the website scan works, what information gets extracted, how to review and edit scan results, and how to set up your business manually if the scan does not work for your site.
The website scan
When you first sign in or create a new business, Nowzer offers to scan your website. The scan reads your publicly visible pages and uses AI to extract key business information automatically. This saves you from entering everything by hand.
What the scan extracts
- Business name and website URL
- Logo and brand images from your site
- Brand colors from your design
- Industry and lines of business (for insurance agencies: product lines, operating states)
- Brand voice and tone - how your website communicates
- Target audience description
- Content topics that align with your business
- Calls to action (phone numbers, email, booking links)
- Contact information
- Relevant website images found on your site
How long does it take?
Most scans complete in 15 to 30 seconds. If your site is large or loads slowly, it may take up to a minute. You will see a progress indicator while the scan is running.
Reviewing scan results
After the scan completes, you are taken to a review page where every extracted detail is shown in editable sections. Nothing is saved until you confirm. Review each section carefully:
Basic information
Verify your business name, website URL, phone number, and email. If anything is wrong, click the field to edit it.
Brand colors
The scan attempts to identify your primary and secondary brand colors. You can change these by clicking the color swatches.
Voice and audience
Review the brand voice summary, audience description, and pain points. These power your AI-generated content, so accuracy here means better results later.
Content topics
Check the suggested content topics. Add, remove, or edit topics to match what you actually want to post about.
Compliance settings (insurance industry)
If Nowzer detects that you are an insurance agency, you will see fields for operating states and product lines. Select all that apply - this configures your compliance review rules.
Save your business
Once everything looks correct, click Create Business. Your profile is saved and you are taken to the dashboard.
Nothing is permanent. Every setting from the scan review can be updated at any time in Business Settings. Do not worry about getting everything perfect on the first pass.
Manual setup (skip the scan)
If the scan fails or you prefer to enter information yourself, you can skip the scan entirely. After skipping, go to Business Settings and fill in each tab manually: Profile, Voice, Brand, Topics, and Compliance. The AI content generation will use whatever information you provide, so the more you fill in, the better your generated content will be.
When the scan fails
Some websites cannot be scanned. Common reasons include sites built entirely with JavaScript frameworks that do not render server-side content, sites behind login pages or paywalls, sites that block automated access, and very new domains with minimal content. If the scan fails, you will see the option to skip and set up manually. Manual setup works exactly the same way and produces the same quality results.
